International Tap Dance Day Celebration

Improvisation Workshop 5:45 - 7:00 pm

Improvisation can be an intimidating experience for many dancers. However, with a supportive and encouraging environment we can help you overcome some of these fears and provide you with the tools to give you a greater sense of freedom and creativity on the dance floor.

This workshop is designed for tap dancers of all ages and skill levels. From beginners to professionals, we will help you let go of self-doubt and allow you to embrace your own unique style and personality. The core of the workshop is focused on exploring improvisation techniques and developing individual style through basic improvisation exercises, such as call and response, repetition, and rhythm building. 

Remember that improvisation is about expressing yourself and having fun, rather than trying to impress others or conform to a particular standard. Don't be afraid to take risks and make mistakes, as they can often lead to new and unexpected ideas.

We will help create a supportive and inspiring environment for dancers to develop their skills and explore their creativity. Tap jam with live band 7:15 - 8:30 pm

Get ready to put on your tap shoes and dance with a Live Band! This event promises to be a thrilling night of music, dance, and improvisation. The evening will be hosted by Garry Stocks and Bill Simpson, who will lead the audience through an exciting night of tap dance improvisation.

The live band will consist of some incredible musicians, including a drummer, bassist, and pianist, who will play a range of jazz, swing, and popular tunes. The band will create the rhythm and melody, while the tap dancers will provide the percussion and footwork, resulting in a dynamic and engaging performance.

Audience members are welcome to attend! In fact, having the support of family, friends, and the wonderful dancers of the tap community really make these live jams something special. Those registered will be invited to participate in the jam session, taking turns on the dance floor with their own improvisations. This is a great opportunity to showcase your own tap dance skills, connect with other dancers, and enjoy an unforgettable night of music and dance.
